VISION FM is a community radio
station based in the Braunstone area of Leicester, broadcasting
on 95.1 FM and online at www.visionfm.co.uk
The station has broadcast five
times so far on a 28 day RSL
( Restricted Services Licence
)
VISION FM is funded by the BCA,
which is an organisation set up to impliment the regeneration
of the Braunstone area under the governments New Deal scheme,
and is also aided by a collective of members who got together
to form the BCRP (Braunstone Community Radio Project)
The BCRP was formed to raise awareness
and funding to aid VISION FM, and achieved this by holding parties
and events and also applying for arts grants on the run up to
the RSL broadcast period. The BCRP is now working towards the
sixth broadcast period for Christmas 2006
The VISION FM studio was based
at the BCA offices on Wellinger way, Braunstone, but relocated
to new premises in 2004. The station covers a wide selection of
music, catering for all tastes from mainstreem pop, to specialist
shows including R+B, Dance, Rock,Country,Gospel, and many more
musical genre's, and even talk shows. The station has good interaction
from the community with requests being recieved by text, phone,
e-mail, and even personal visits, where members of the community
are invited to take part by talking live on air.
I had a twice weekly dance show
on the first RSL, and on the second had a midmorning daytime show
3 times per week, and a specialist dance show late night on wednesdays.
I have since presented a daily
community focus show that saw me interviewing various people of
standing from the Braunstone community, i found this very interesting
and a good way of understanding the way the community works
I was at one time Vice Chairperson,
then Acting Chairperson of the BCRP.
The next broadcast period for
VISION FM will include a website, live broadcast over the internet,
live studio webcam and even a chatroom, making it available to
a world wide audience, ..........watch this space,..... VISION
FM....
